Figuring out where you want your photos can be a tough choice, especially when San Francisco and the surrounding area offers so much beauty. So let's get into some different options from woodsy, coastal themed, city vibes, or even a good mix of both!

Mount Tamalpaias State Park - Coastal Views and Rolling Hills

The PERFECT spot that has beautiful rolling grassy hills, golden hour with that orange sun that hits just right, views of the coast, and even some woodsy vibes is Mount Tam! My favorite seasons are spring for the green grass (sometimes there's even wildflowers!) and in the summer and fall for dried tall grass! When the sun goes down, the orangey glow is BEAUTIFUL. As a San Francisco photographer, I absolutely love golden hour at this location. During blue hour, the sky turns a nice purple blue which tends to create some film-y magic! I love shooting with my 35mm film, and this location is so perfect for that during blue hour! Point Reyes National Seashore - Epic Cliff Side Views

Point Reyes National Seashore offers the MOST epic cliff sides and views! Point Reyes is definitely the furthest one away from San Francisco, but the views make it ALL worth the fun roadtrip. The Cypress Tree Tunnel in Point Reyes is so unique and the perfect spot to get a change of scenery with cypress trees creating the perfect tunnel photo spot. Chimney Rock has my absolute favorite cliff views. The sun goes down at the perfect spot, there's so much space to run around, and there are 360 views! I highly recommend considering Point Reyes for your photo session if you're looking for a romantic and dreamy location!

Montara State Beach & JV Fitzgerald Marine Reserve - Woodsy & Beach Vibes

I love these spots for some cool woodsy and beachy photos with some dramatic hills in the background. They are only 4 minutes from one another, hence why I like implementing them together in a session! The trees at JV Fitzgerald Marine Reserve are beautiful to start a session at. The sun shines between the trees which creates some gorgeous lighting and amazing woodsy vibes. Then Montara State Beach is extremely easy to get to, it almost feels like cheating! Whether it's sunny, overcast, or whatever vibes the weather brings us, it's beautiful regardless! I love the colors that pop here and its my favorite spot to capture some beach photos, run around in the sand, and feel carefree getting our legs a little wet in the water!

Marin Headlands - Rolling Hills & Golden Gate Bridge Views

I love Marin Headlands for the mix of nature and city! You get some amazing rolling hills, tall grass, and the Golden Gate Bridge!! This specific spot I don't share unless you book with me, to help keep it private and keep the crowd levels down. As much as I LOVE other Golden Gate Bridge viewpoints, the amount of people at the main spots, like Battery Spencer, are FILLED with tourists and is not ideal for an intimate, fun, and romantic session with your babe. SO this Marin Headlands spot may take a bit of walking, but the views and intimacy make the trek SO worth it!! I love exploring with my couples and if you're down for a bit of an adventure, I ALWAYS recommend this spot to those searching for beautiful San Francisco locations for photo shoot sessions!

Legion Of Honor - Classy European Vibes

Legion of Honor is the perfect spot to get some lowkey classy European vibes! I love the green grass with the architecture and the white pillars here. It can create some magical images for either engagement or wedding photos! It's even a wedding venue which would be a DREAM! At the right time, you won't have to worry about too many crowds and it's a great place. It's also extremely close to Sutro Baths and Lands End! These spots could also bring some amazing variety to your session. These are more locations I love shooting at, but they just didn't make the cut for my top six!

Bernal Heights & Downtown SF - City Vibes

I LOVE BERNAL HEIGHTS FOR CITY VIEWS! In my opinion, it's way better than Twin Peaks, not only for the views but for safety reasons too! This view point is easy to get to and so beautiful at sunset. On a clear day, you can see the Golden Gate Bridge from afar. I love getting views of the SF city skyline, blue or cloudy skies. It's perfect if the city means something special to you and your relationship! Prior to heading to Bernal Heights, I've found some sweet city spots, neighborhoods and SF streets I love taking photos at to get the full city vibe! We could run around the streets, find some cool backdrops, or even hop into some shops! You can make it special to you! Whether that means going to your favorite bar, ice cream shop, secret places you hung out in together etc. This is the perfect way to make your session unique!

You truly can't go wrong with any of these beautiful spots in and around San Francisco, you just need to ask yourself "What kind of vibe am I wanting?!" And there's spots where you can get a mix in of more then one setting as well. If you love the beach and coastal vibes, I definitely recommend checking out Montara State Beach and then heading over to JV Fitzgerald Marine Reserve fore a few woodsy shots!
